Your Shih Tzu Puppy In The Show Ring

May 24th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Who gets a ribbon? Your Shih Tzu puppy or dog will receive a ribbon if your Shih Tzu puppy or dog places first through fourth position regardless of how many entries there are in each class at a dog show. The ribbons your Shih Tzu puppy or dog wins from the American Kennel Club licensed dog shows has the American Kennel Club seal, name of the show, date and the placement.

If you plan to also breed your new Shih Tzu puppy these ribbons can be very impressive to your prospective buyers. Because of this fact a Shih Tzu puppy registered with the American Kennel Club can be worth more in terms of monetary gain for the owner should the new owner ever decide to re-sell the Shih Tzu puppy or to produce puppies for sale. More often than not, an AKC full registration with full breeding and showing rights will cost a consumer anywhere from $200 on up.

The Classes Color Of Winning Ribbons:

•Blue ribbons for first place.
•Red ribbons are for second place.
•Yellow ribbons are for third place.
•White ribbons are for fourth place.
•Purple ribbons are Winners Dog or Winners Bitch
•Purple and White ribbons are for Reserve Dog and Reserve Bitch
•Blue and White ribbons are for Best of Winners
•Purple and Gold are for Best of Breed
•Red and White ribbons are for Best of Opposite Sex

The Six Group Color Ribbons:

•First prize is a blue rosette or ribbon
•Second placement is red.
•Third placement is yellow.
•Fourth placement is white.

The Best in Show Shih Tzu puppy or dog rosette is red, white and blue, or incorporates the colors used in the show-giving club’s emblem.

How does your Shih Tzu puppy or Shih Tzu dog qualify for championship points? Championship points are based on the popularity of the breed in entries and the number of dogs competing in the classes. Championship points are given for Winners Dog and Winners Bitch. The scale of points can vary in different sections of the country. The scale of points is usually published in the front of each dog show catalog. The points can differ between dogs and bitches at the same show. Additional points are gained by winning Best of Winners, if there are fewer dogs than bitches entered, or vice versa. Points never exceed five at any one show. Championship status is determined by earning a total of fifteen points. The fifteen points must be won under at least three different judges and you must acquire at least two major wins.. Three to five point wins is a major. One and two point wins are minor wins. Two major wins must be won under different judges to meet championship requirements.

Dog Show Photographs:

Every show has a professional photographer who is more than happy to take a photograph of your Shih Tzu puppy or dog with the judge, ribbons and trophies, along with you or your handler. These proud remembrances of your Shih Tzu puppy or dog show wins can be framed for display purposes. The photos of your Shih Tzu puppy or dog show wins can also be very impressive to advertise puppies produced from their mating.

Goal Setting and Vision Casting

May 24th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

“You don’t get points for predicting rain. You get points for building an ark.” Louis Gerstner, former Chairman and CEO of IBM

It’s that time of year again: time to reflect back on the past year and evaluate relationships; examine areas where you spent your valuable time, money, and energy; ponder goals set last year and revise new ones accordingly; and count your many blessings.

As I spend time these next few days looking over notes from years past, I will make every effort to draft goals for the New Year that will help me move further down the path. To becoming more of the person whom I hope to become. My goal every year is to become more saint-like, and many areas in my life need to be addressed in order to help me evolve–step by step–to that end.

I will not suppose that what works for me will work for you. I
will only share what I do in the hope that it might help you as
you prepare for the coming New Year.

I rely on my Filofax, where I write all of my goals down in
colored ink on colored paper. Over the years I have called my
goals various things, but as of last year they became known as
the “6 F’s.” Here goes…

1) FAITH

How can I get myself further down the spiritual path and become
more saintlike? Specific steps I might record to get me closer to my goal would include: disciplined and consistent reading of
scripture, journaling, reading books on spirituality, plugging
into a charitable organization whose vision fits that of my
family’s, taking a mission trip, maintaining a “bloom where
planted” attitude about life, etc.

2) FAMILY

How can our family–including my husband, our four kids,
myself, and the dog–become the strongest and happiest group of
people as we share life together? And what things do I need to be pro-actively instilling into our family’s structure to ensure
happy childhoods for each of our four kids? What is my vision for each child? What gifts and talents does this child have and what do we need to do to help him develop them for other people’s benefit? Specific steps might include: planning a family summer vacation, replacing TV with a family reading night, investments in music lessons, commitment to sports teams, scheduling weekly date nights, etc.

3) FRIENDS

How can I maintain the many friendships that I have formed over
the years given the great physical distances that separate us,
and how can I form new friendships with people who cross my path? Specific steps would include scheduled trips to visit
girlfriends, frequent long-distance phone calls, celebrating
birthdays with gifts and cards, continuing Christmas gift-giving
traditions, etc.

4) FINANCIAL

How do we become more financially independent? How do we reduce
debt and increase wealth? Steps would include my making a list of a realistic number of books to sell, seminars to schedule,
articles to write, investments to make, savings goals to meet,
tithing commitments to keep, etc.

5) FITNESS

How can I maintain a health and fitness regimen that keeps me in
optimal physical and emotional health–while maintaining kids
who are too young to maintain themselves? Specific steps would
include scheduling a realistic number of trips to the gym per
week, weekly commitments to swimming and tennis, and to weight
training, etc.

6) FUN

What things would I enjoy doing personally and with my family
that would help me enjoy life to its fullest? I would include
specific trips and dates with Ernie, plans for vacations with the kids, Broadway shows, season tickets to the philharmonic, oil painting classes, etc.

Studies show that people who record their goals IN WRITING have
a much greater chance of accomplishing them. Spend quality time
thinking about specific goals that you’d like to make in your
life. Begin the process now. Let your sub-conscious absorb the
goals and let it help you figure out ways in which to make these
goals realistically attainable. Consider your life stage. A trip
to the gym might be quite realistic for me but a pipe dream for
you if you have a newborn or a couple of toddlers underfoot.
Don’t fret that your goals seem out of whack or not grand
enough. Go easy on yourself and resolve to come up with goals
that fit where you are and where you’d like to be by the end of
the year. And remember to have fun with the process. Enjoy a
glass of red wine and sit by the fire while you doodle your
thoughts. Dream. Imagine.

ONE FINAL THOUGHT: Remember to count your blessings of this past
year. Make a list. We are each coming to the dinner table New
Year’s Eve night with our individual Top Ten Lists. Consider
making this a New Year’s Eve tradition in your family, too.
Nothing makes one feel better about the world than counting all
the ways in which you have been uniquely blessed.

Please let me know if I can help you in your journey.

Have a blessed New Year. PEACE!

The Leo Wanta Saga, Pt. 20: Next Few Days Critical In Whether $4.5 Trillion Wanta Money Repatriated For Americans

May 24th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

The Ambassador Leo Wanta story has been ringing in the ears of high level officials all over the world for the last two weeks ever since President Bush and the Federal Reserve Board refused to honor a $4.5 trillion written agreement to release the money for the betterment of the American economy.

Wanta had previously entered into an agreement with high level U.S. authorities and a number of world wide banks to repatriate the massive amount of money.

But his efforts have been blocked by officials who are afraid to open up a “financial can of worms,” leading to the misuse of trillions of offshore funds by Bush Sr., Clinton and many other high level U.S, officials.

Wanta has been declared legal trustor of more than $27.5 trillion in offshore funds amassed when he was instructed by President Ronald Reagan to destabilize the Russian currency at the end of the Cold War, which turned into a highly successful financial program beyond Wanta and Reagan’s wildest dreams.

But instead of using the money to strengthen America after Reagan was out of the picture, Bush Sr. and Clinton devised a plan to use the money for their own underhanded purposes, jailing Wanta in the process, as they then created phony front companies and illegal trusts to use the money illegally.

Once Wanta was released from jail, he began a quest to recover the money against enormous odds and a level of corruption called by financial observers as the “biggest bank heist in the history of the world.”

Although the incredible details of Wanta’s patriotic search for trillions is too long and complicated for this short article, the story supposedly had a quasi-ending when the written settlement in May, assisted by two federal court judges, was entered into for the repatriation of $4.5 trillion.

However, when Wanta became alarmed by long delays, he gave officials until July 31 to release the money, saying this publicly on Greg Szymanski’s radio show, The Investigative Journal, and confirmed by Michael C. Cottrell, treasurer of his AmeriTrust Groupe, Inc., the company established to return the money to the people in the form of an immediate $1.575 trillion in federal tax money and the balance of the money set aside for improving the bewildered American economy.

Furthermore, when the July 31 deadline came and went, Wanta vowed to take all steps necessary to recover the money and as this story went to publication, Cottrell said “we are moving forward,” remaining confident in the final goal, which is full and final receipt for the money due Ambassador Wanta .

Besides the $4.5 trillion settlement, financial observers claim the Wanta saga is the tip of the ice berg, revealing a vast war chest of more than $300 trillion used by the New World Order, headed up in America by Bush Sr.

Coincidently, this amount was even confirmed by Bush Sr. in the federal court room of Judge Deborah Batts in 1989 when arrogantly stood up in front of lawyers and said when confronted with the possibility of the exposure and elimination of his illegal cash cow, the Federal Reserve:

“Over my dead body will this ever happen and I have a $300 trillion dollar war chest to fight it.”

Although no firm time frame has been set for the resolution of the Wanta matter, observers claim next week is a critical period to watch.

Further, observers say to watch for “the bigger picture” as the Wanta’s exposure of the misuse of trillions of offshore money could have reverberations worldwide leading to a possible shake-up in the Federal Reserve banking system and a round up to justice of many high level officials who have been illegally using trillions of dollars behind the backs of the American people and the people of the world.

However, while the officials do their financial wrangling, let’s look at a sampling of emails, only a handful of thousands sent to Arctic Beacon by average Americans made aware of what has been called one of the most important stories in American history:

From Windsong in California:

I have been following this closely because of some mention of it on a forum I read quite often. I admire Ambassador Wanta for standing for truth and not being moved by people that have the power and influence on their side. It seems he is up against impossible odds. So I suppose my question is this, in light of the government’s refusal to sign off on this, what is Wanta able to do? I hope all are exposed that are to blame for this, but other than that what leverage does he have. My prayers are with him.

From Loretta Weston in Arkansas:

I am editor for a small independent family-oriented newspaper in Arkansas USA interested in reporting on the Leo Wanta story. We are an all-volunteer staff where all funds go directly to printing/postage costs. However, we want to help spread the word to our over 4000 loyal readers in the US & Costa Rica. How can we get access to the full articles on your web site?

From Garrett Seick in Washington state:

For my part, I have contacted several journalists, editors and elected officials (WA) and Senate & Congressional Committees (Budget, Finance, etc). The responses/replies received from media-types indicated personal agreement that this issue needs exposure, but that it was outside the “scope” of the publication, or that it was too big to handle. On the elected official side - mostly standard-fare like this from Washington State Senator Patty Murray: (note: my reply to her response appears first)

Senator Murray,

All due respect, Ma’am. Thoughtful deliberation?… How about action on this issue! Come on, Senator! Get educated about it & bring this to the public eye. If not, you’ve been duly informed & will go down in history as complicit! Please, take action on this issue & help save America - land of the free (?) & home of the BRAVE.

Dear Mr. Seick:

Thank you for contacting my office. Your thoughtful comments regarding Leo Wanta are greatly appreciated. Representing the state of Washington in the United States Senate is a solemn responsibility, and matters which come before this body must be decided not in haste, but through thoughtful deliberation. … Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind. Again, thank you for your comments. I hope you will stay in touch. Sincerely, Patty Murray United States Senator

From Jeanette Woodward-Partridge:

I wrote you the other day about my fear that if this government got a hold of $27.8 trillion dollars the world would be a nuclear graveyard in short order. I had an idea and I was wondering if you could run it by Ambassador Wanta next time you speak to him. Could these funds be divided among the LEGAL citizens of the US? That is every U.S. citizen, native or naturalized would get an equal share. Can you imagine how that would effect the economy of the world?! I’m so concerned about that money falling into the clutches of the powers that be that as I said I’d rather see it destroyed than to help fund the annihilation of the planet.

From Don DeHaven:

I have been e-mailing this story to my e-mail list and I have asked that they do the same. My list covers many states and in turn as it gets passed on many more states. I have also e-mailed Congressional reps as to my demands. I know that many on my list have done like wise. Keep up the work and please tell Mr. Wanta that he is not alone. The revolution has started and as many more Americans wake up to the criminal elements in government many more will be involved.

Self-Defense, Safety, and The 6 Keys to Effectiveness

May 24th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

When most people think of self-defense, what usually comes to mind is protecting oneself from the physical onslaught from a criminal attacker. And, while this is not, in itself, a problem, it is however, only a small part of being able to be safe and free from harm in Today’s often dangerous world.

The following is a list of the major key skill areas that should be developed if you are truly seeking to be able to avoid or escape from an attacker bent on seeing you as his victim.

Key #1 - General Awareness

It goes without saying that, if you don’t believe that danger exists in the world, or more to the point, that danger will never find you, then you will do little or nothing to insure your safety. In addition, even if you do understand the dangers inherent in your world, which can be assumed as you’re reading this, it’s important to not fall into the trap of believing that the police, military, or government can and should be the ones to protect you. When push-comes-to-shove, and you’re the one facing an enraged attacker directing his wrath at you, you will be responsible for your own safety in those first few, precious, seconds.

Key #2 - Awareness of Surroundings

While most so-called self-defense experts tend to lump “awareness” into one category, the truth is that there are many levels to this “skill of directing the mind where it is most needed.” While Key #1 focuses our attention on the larger world-view of the presence of danger and our personal responsibility for our own welfare, this key is directed at the details of the moment. Here we’re paying attention to “what’s going on around us.” The fact is that, the better our ability to pay attention and recognize danger as it begins to take shape, the greater our ability to avoid, escape, or neutralize its effect on us BEFORE it has a chance to touch us at all.

That’s what Danger Prevention Tactics are all about. And, especially for those of us who want to avoid fighting at all costs, it is the key to defending against most of the dangers that others fall victim to every day. You can read more about this powerful video and mastering the skills of danger avoidance at http://www.warrior-concepts-online.com/self-defense-video-dpt1.html

Key #3 - Escaping to Safety

While awareness will not prevent danger from appearing in your world, what it will do is to allow you to respond to it sooner. And this is the powerful secret used by the professionals and experts who regularly face danger literally every day of their lives. No, awareness alone will not save you, but it will allow you to escape from the danger before it gets close enough to cause damage. The trick here is to develop multiple routes to places that you visit regularly. Also, developing the ability to recognize and plan for escape routes out of places like traffic, restaurants, your own home, aircraft if you travel, and the like are all important to your overall safety plan. Remember too to validate all safety information that comes your way as most of what is out there has been written, not by actual survivors, but by people who have the job of writing safety procedures. And, as any expert or survivor will tell you, what sounds perfectly logical in theory, may be completely and totally useless in the heat of the moment!

Key #4 - Distracting the Attacker

The fact that your day is filled with demands for your attention, distractions, confusion, and input coming from a hundred different directions at once, can make even the most disciplined meditation master open to attack by a determined assailant. Add to this, all the trickery and manipulative deception used by various types of attackers, and you can see that it’s virtually impossible to be aware of everything. And that sets you up for the potential of an attack that comes seemingly “out of the blue.” Where distance is required to effectively escape from an impending attack, you may not have this luxury when you suddenly realize that you’re the target of an attacker already standing right in front of you.

But, this still doesn’t mean that you have to jump right to the physical aspects of self-defense. It’s important to remember that, regardless of your martial arts rank, how many tricks you know, or even whether or not you’re carrying a weapon, moving directly to physically fighting with your assailant provides the greatest chance for something going wrong.

Instead, you can use tactics and strategies that involve humor, feigning ignorance, or even faking a heart attack, to diffuse the situation and change a would-be attack situation into one where the assailant becomes an ally. Here, it’s important to remember that we want to avoid mentioning the possibility of an attack but instead, to distract the assailant by redirecting his or her attention away from you as a target.

Key #5 - Dissuading

When you can’t avoid, escape, or even distract the attacker and it appears that they are determined to unleash their punishment on you, you still have one more card to play before having to resort to fighting. At this point, you must become very focused yourself and understand that this is your last chance to stop things from going “too-far.” Here, you must be able to look squarely at your antagonist and, with your words, body language and raw determination, communicate that you will not allow them to carry our their plan - that you will not comply or become their victim.

It’s important to understand that, even though there it’s estimated that there is an assault every 17 seconds in the US, that a full 70% or better of these can be handled by Keys 1 through 5. It only stands to reason that you should know as much as possible about these important areas and make sure that you have several skills in each area that will work to serve you if and when you should ever need them. If you’re looking for a good source to learn more about these important key elements in a sound self-defense strategy, as well as what you’ll have to deal with from your own body and mind’s physio-emotional responses to stress and danger, make sure you read the book, “The Karate Myth: Why Most Martial Arts and Self-Defense Programs Don’t Work and How to Be Safe in Today’s World”

Key #6 - Physically Handle the Attack

When all else has failed, no matter what you believe, think, or wish would have or should have happened, when the fists start flying - the blade comes in to bite into and open your flesh - or the bullets start coming in your direction, it’s time for effective, efficient, and proper physical action. There’s a saying that goes, “Survivors Live Where Others Die.” It’s ultimately up to you, and the actions you take, long before the attack happens as to whether you will be a “survivor” or an “other.” The choice is yours.

Formula to Grow a Salesperson From Customer Service

May 24th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

In my experience great salespeople are grown. As a business owner with customer service and/or administrative staff you have a unique opportunity to ‘grow’ salespeople - however you need a process!

Assuming as an end result you want salespeople that can prospect, qualify and close deals, here’s a formula for success that will require you to keep an open mind. Because it is a process there is a beginning, middle and an end. The beauty of it is that if you want to continually grow a sales team you can just continually repeat this process.

Now before we get to the actual steps of the process there are a points and a real world example. We all know that people learn things better when they are “chunked up”. It’s true even with the family dog - which in our case is Pekinese. I spent a month teaching it to jump up in the air to get a biscuit. Next month I taught him the proper way to beg. Here is the part I did not tell you: he flunked dog school. They tried to teach him too many things at once. The only thing he learned how to do was play around and play dead with the big dogs - not a recipe for success. But it did keep the little fluff ball alive - a competency many mediocre salespeople have learned as well. Anyway, in terms of training salespeople to be great salespeople, the same principles hold. To train the skills they must be “chunked up”. If this is not done, all you’ll end up with is someone who has survival instincts, but no Killer Instinct. So here is how you select and grow someone to greatness in sales!

1.) Start by finding an entry-level, money motivated person who will work in a position with a lot of interaction with customers such as customer service or administrative assistant. Make sure you assess your candidates to see that they have some dominance in their personality style. There are lots of good assessment tools available. DISC is one of the best for this.

2.) Discuss the idea of advancement to Outside Sales with them before you hire them. Make sure they are committed to eventually being in Outside Sales and the incentive based income opportunity that comes with it. During this discussion, go over the skills that they need to be competent in, in order to be a successful Outside Salesperson. Share the plan as outlined in this article as well so they know what to expect and set the various “stages” for mastery of the competencies that go with them as goals. These are described below.

3) Hire them into the position and pay them a base salary and provide them with an opportunity for 8-10 hours per week to prospect. Pay them a commission for leads generated as a result of their prospecting as well. Set weekly and daily prospecting goals with the and coach daily initially and then weekly.

4) Gradually make the position more telemarketing oriented as they become more and more comfortable and successful. Simultaneously but rather infrequently adjust base pay down by mutual agreement as hours allotted for telemarketing go up.

5) Create opportunities for them to go out of the office to networking affairs, trade shows and talks to gather leads and follow up and turn leads over to outside sales. As before, continue to train on new skills/competencies needed for these new activities. Ride Alongs with you are very helpful for training purposes. A Ride Along is where you go with them to a networking affair, for example, to demonstrate how to network.

6) Have the new hire start making some face to faces sales calls and begin to completely eliminate the administrative or customer service duties. Schedule Ride Alongs to some sales calls for training and coaching purposes. Continue with weekly coaching sessions in the office where you review prospecting behaviors and results as well as call results. Coach them for better conversion ratios on their prospecting and face-to-face selling activities. Role-play with them as well.

7) Completely eliminate any administrative or customer service duties. Once this is done they become a full fledged outside sales person. Adjust compensation accordingly.

Congratulate them - they made it and so did you! You trained them and reduced your risk all at the same time. That’s it-that’s how you do it. The process can take 4 months to 12 months. Start to repeat the process by hiring another in step three or four. Remember recruiting and developing is a on-going process.

Traditional Dog Training Revealed

May 24th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Traditional dog training was initially developed to train war dogs. It was very useful during World War I. This training technique was embraced by civilian trainers after World War II, and quickly became the standard way to train dogs.

It seems that Colonel Konrad Most was the founder of this technique and, therefore, he is acknowledged as the father of modern dog training.

However, the main supporter of the technique was William R. Koehler. His book “The Koehler Method of Dog Training” could be the all-time best selling publication in the field.

Modern scientific principles of learning were not used to develop traditional training, so it is an empirical technique. Nevertheless, it seems that Konrad Most already understood the principles of operant conditioning on 1910, several years before those principles were published. So, this technique can be explained by operant conditioning principles.

Negative reinforcement and punishment are the main teaching ways of traditional training.

Negative reinforcement is the process that strengthens a behavior because an unpleasant situation is stopped or avoided as a consequence of that particular behavior. For instance, pushing on your dog’s shoulders will provoke an unpleasant situation for him. If the pressure over his shoulders disappears when he lies down, he will be more likely to do the same in the future, just to avoid that unpleasant sensation. Thus, your dog will be learning to lie down through negative reinforcement.

Punishment, on the other hand, is an unpleasant consequence of a particular behavior. Although punishment could weaken a behavior, it is not a guarantee that this will happen. Besides, punishments usually have undesired collateral effects.

An example of punishment would be if you hit your dog or yell at him because he climbed on the armchair. As a consequence you may get your dog off of the armchair, but there is no guarantee that he won’t climb again. Some possible undesired consequences could be that your dog bites you, he gets scared each time you appear or he gets phobia to armchairs.

Choke chains, prong collars and shock (electric) collars are common tools in traditional training and all its variants. Also, this kind of training is usually targeted to dog obedience exercises, disregarding behavioral problems.

Advocates of this technique often argue that traditional training provides reliable results which can’t be obtained with other techniques. They also claim that training collars (choke, prong and shock) are harmless because dogs have a high threshold of pain.

Detractors of traditional dog training argue that both the technique and the tools are cruel and violent. They also claim that the technique can cause dangerous collateral effects, such as fear biting and damages to the dog’s trachea.

How to Triple Your Productivity in 28 Days - Part I

May 13th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

The quickest and easiest way to boost your productivity is
to develop your concentration.
Developing your concentration directly affects your
self-discipline, perseverance, and the ability to
accomplish the goals you set.

Why is this so?

Because concentration is a form of self-discipline, just
over a shorter time span.
When you focus your attention over a short time span, it’s
called concentration.
When you focus your attention over a longer time span
(ie. a month, a year, a lifetime),
it’s called self-discipline, perseverance, and consistency.

In order words, Productivity!

Famous author, Theron Q Dumont, said this about
concentration:

“It is the utmost value to learn how to concentrate. To make
the greatest success of anything
you must be able to concentrate our entire thoughtt upon the
idea you are working on. The
person that is able to concentrate utilizes all
constructive thoughts and shuts out all destructive
ones. The greatest man would accomplish nothing if he
lacked concentration”

The first 2 concentration builders I am giving you I learned
from the Olympic Training Center
in Colorado Springs. These are the same concentration
builders that many Olympic athletes
use every day in order to excel in their chosen sports. Use
them yourself and watch your
concentration, self-discipline and productivity soar.

* Concentration Builder Week 1

This first exercise is simple, but since most people have
horrible concentration, it’s good to start
small. Each time you eat, smply count the number of the
number of times you chew your food
before you swallow.

Throughout the week, build up to chewing your food 32 times
before you swallow.
You’ll probably find your mind wandering and losing count.
That’s ok. Just start over from 1 with each new bite.

* Concentration Builder Week 2

Again, start off slow and build upon ths concentration
builder for week 2. You’ll see your
concentration noticeably improving as you do. Start by
picking a number from 3 - 6.

Whenver you are walking anywhere, simply count your steps.
For instance, if you pick the
number 4, it goes like this step. 1…step. 2…..step
3…..step. 4 and start over at 1.

If you find your mind wandering, no need to beat yourself
up.
Just gently go back to focusing on counting your steps.

Practice these concentration builders over the next 2 weeks
and watch your concentration gradually improve
and your productivity reach new heights.

What Makes a Pit Bull a Pet?

May 13th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

The answer to that question could be the one thing that legislators all over this country need to realize. I’m not writing this to bash anyone or scream about my dislike for the way specific breeds are being treated, but I am writing this in the hopes that somewhere sometime someone who makes these decisions will read this and then consider the results of their actions.

The journey for me started just 10 months ago. I never thought I would say this but “I fell in love with a Pit Bull, an American Pit Bull Puppy named Donut to be exact.” My sister had rescued this puppy, but soon after found that she could not handle the care and training necessary. So my wife and I decided to give that puppy a better home.

Before meeting Donut my opinion of Pit Bulls was negative. I had always thought of them has such mean dogs that didn’t belong in a house with children. But something changed for me. Maybe it was that floppy right ear, or uncontrollable wagging tail, well no matter what it was I was in love.

Once Donut was settled in I really got to know this little guy, who was quickly becoming the big guy. I was amazed he took to training practically overnight and he was so full of love. But wait, this is a pit bull, a mean aggressive and dangerous dog, right?

I then learned that several neighbors of mine also had Pit Bulls. They too were very well behaved and very good around my son. This really got me thinking. “Is it just media hype? Where did my misconception of pit bull behavior come from?” Then I was confused even more when I heard the news of pit bulls all over being put to death just for being in the wrong city at the wrong time.

How could this happen? Let’s put aside the fact that this is America and we are a free country. Those dogs didn’t hurt anyone. No, this is just a knee jerk bandaid reaction to a problem that started with the owner and not the pet. I say “pet” and not “animal”. (An animal is untamed and wild. A pet is a member of the family.) Responsible pet ownership is the solution to the problem. If a child mouths off to a teacher in class we say it’s the parents fault, but if a dog barks and bites someone we blame the dog. Why is that? If you own a dog, care for a dog, or are just thinking about getting a dog, I urge you to take the time to train your dog properly and give them tons of love. The song doesn’t just apply to people, because “Love is all you need.”

Pompoochi Puppies Arrive In Britain: A Dog Breed For The Future?

May 8th, 2009 admin Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

There is a new dog breed to look out for. They are called Pompoochi’s.

They certainly don’t feature as a recognised dog breed either in the UK Dog Breeders Association, or the US AKC Dog Breeds official (or even unofficial) list.

They are just too new!

Some people think Pompoochies are hedgehogs, and others that they are baby bears!

Apparently the best that you can say is that they are bound to make the hearts of very many dog lovers melt. They look like little balls of fluff and feel like cotton wool.

We are told by the breeder that, “Small dogs are trendy at the moment so I thought I would have some fun trying to create a new breed. People will love them.”

She is also reported to have added: “The Pompoochies are amazing. I worry that buzzards will eat them when they are in the garden. The people breeding Pompoochies are certainly very fashion conscious as they have named their own Pompoochi puppies after Paris Hilton!

But, we are also told that they are far cuter than her pet Chihuahua Tinkerbell. So there you are, Paris Hilton - obviously it’s time you bought a Pompoochi puppy as well!

So, all you high class socialites, you can throw away last season’s designer handbag. These are the latest must-have doggy accessory, and these puppies are about to steal the heart of every self-respecting “It” girl, we are told.

Hey, come on, they might LOOK like a ball of fluff, but a Pompoochi is a real living breathing dog, with real feelings, and ultimately needs all the feeding, exercising, discipline and training needed by any dog.

So what exactly are they? Well, these Pompoochi puppies are in fact, three-way crossbreeds between a poodle, a chihuahua and a pomeranian - and the only ones in Britain.

At just eight inches tall when fully-grown, the teddy bear-like creatures are small enough for even the smallest of handbags.

They fit into the palm of a hand when born and look like hamsters.

Paris and Hilton - named after the socialite dog-lover - were born 12 weeks ago in a litter of four to a Poodle - Chihuahua mother and a pedigree Pomeranian father.

The breeder hopes to breed more soon. Apparently, she has found the response to these puppies to be fantastic, and they are so new that nobody in the UK knows what they are when they first see them.

Nevertheless, you can bet that many of them will be wanting their own Pompoochies for themselves as soon as they do!

You might think that the name Pompoochi is quite amusing.

But, it gets funnier. Wait until you hear this one.

Last year, breeder and pet-lover Fi crossed a rottweiler with a boxer to produce seven baby “roxxers”.
